I attended my cousin’s wedding in Dallas, TX over the weekend and it was absolutely gorgeous!!! Hopefully you saw that on InstaStories. The dress I wore is actually sold out. I purchased it back in December and knew I would be saving it for this wedding. It’s crazy…when I got it, it fit perfectly as I was 15 pounds heavier. When I tried it on a couple of days before leaving for the trip, it fit like a plastic bag…no shape or definition anywhere. Luckily, my mother was in town and she was able to take it in in two minutes…literally TWO MINUTES!!!!! Thank God for Mom. Otherwise I would have been running around town frantically searching for something to wear. The only other semi-formal dress I had that fits was a white ruffled dress trimmed in black (very similar to this one) and that was a No-No!
I thought this was the perfect dress to wear to the wedding…until I realized the wedding was taking place outdoors…in the Southern heat. And just any Southern heat, Dallas Southern Heat!!! My thought then became I should have worn a regular tank dress. But honestly, no matter what I’d worn, I would have been sweating and glistening in the sun like that. The great thing about this dress is there is a full slip underneath that soaked up the perspiration. So no one knew I was sweating under there! Thank God for small favors!
As you can see, I tried experimenting with my makeup. I typically wear my old faithful neutral brown makeup and gloss. But I kinda wanted to stand out a bit. Still can’t get the cat-eye right. Le Sigh…
I love everything about this dress: the colors, the length (below the knee), the one sleeve, and the bow tie. I normally wear the bow-tie (dress or top – see this post) during the fall and winter months. I think it screams class and never really goes out of style. Wouldn’t you agree?
And just a few photos with my parents!
Have you ever had to find a dress/something to wear at the last minute for a big event? If so, I’d love to hear about it. And what do you typically wear to summer weddings? Let me know!
Thank you so much for reading. I love having you here. And as always, have a beautiful day. XOXO, Candy
