UPDATE: #MyFordCity | Memphis: My City Four Ways

My City Four Ways Memphis

A few weeks ago, I was invited to the Essence + Ford event, My City, Four Ways here in Memphis. (Previous post here) The event was held at The Propcellar, a venue I surprisingly haven’t heard of before. I am a native Memphian who relocated to Atlanta about four years ago. But I am now spending lots more time in Memphis and I find I am being introduced to new places and events in Memphis, as well as being reintroduced to those places I sort-of remember.

ESSENCE magazine and FORD wanted to illuminate and celebrate the city I love and adore—Memphis. MY CITY, 4 WAYS was about the food, music, art and style of Memphis. We were treated with a lively fusion of live musical performances, live painting, and style in Memphis! We also indulged in savory creations by Chef D. Arthur and exceptional cocktails. And can we talk about how we were able to test-drive the many Ford vehicles of our choice that I didn’t get to do?!?

Loni Love of The REAL + ESSENCE Senior Editor, Charreah Jackson hosted the event while DJ Tootz stimulated the musical atmosphere this year. They definitely keep the crowd pleased and kyped! ESSENCE® My City Four Ways granted access to gaining tips for navigating your business from Creative Director June Ambrose (the fashion Hunni) and Founder of the Vanity Group Karleen Roy. Patrice Banks, of Girls Auto Clinic, an all-women auto body garage in Philly (you better go , Girl!!!), gave us tips on how to take care of our cars. She also did a book signing…Beauty + Brains!!! My kinda girl!!! Kelis, you remember here, right? My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard!!! Yes, she was there too!!! I had no idea she was a chef, did you?!? She did her thing during the event and that was a treat in itself!

The only thing I’m not satisfied with is I didn’t get to sample ALL the hor d’oeurves or take eough photos for you guys. I will know the next time!

This event was absolutely wonderful and Memphis made me proud. Hopefully, Essence + Ford were pleased with the outcome of this event and return next year. I’m very happy to have been invited to attend.

Thank you to ESSENCE + Ford for bringingMy City 4 Ways to Memphis!

This post brought to you by Essence.

Sounds like a super fun and entertaining event! You know, I hear that Kelis song so often and always wonder “where is she now”. It is cool that she is a chef.
