I always look forward to decorating my home for the Holidays. I think setting up our dining room table and the family are my favorite rooms to dress up. As some of you know, we moved into our new Memphis home in April and we have both a living room AND family room. Most of you have seen photos of MY living room (see photos here) and it’s been thrilling decorating it. But this year (since it is my own personal room), I was over the moon thinking about how I wanted to decorate it for the Holidays. Being a good mom, I let the kids tackle the family room AFTER I put up the tree and strung the lights. They couldn’t find ornaments they liked in the seven bins of Christmas ornaments. I disgressed.
It’s not really that difficult make your living room cozy and Holiday-ready. Here are a few quick tips to achieve your own transformation:
1. The Christmas Tree – No Holiday room is complete without the Christmas tree, right? So of course you must include one. And then there are the ornaments, lights, skirt, and tree topper. I love that there is no wrong way to decorate a tree. Whatever your style and taste, it works!
Classic – Girly – Manly – Shabby chic – Rustic – Beachy – Sporty – Hollywood – Cuisine – Preppy
If you can think it, it can be done! I decided to go with the flocked tree. I’ve been wanting one for a few years now. G. Boo is adamant about having live trees. But since he wasn’t ‘available’ when I was ready to purchase a tree, I purchased what I wanted and slipped it right on past him!
I normally buy ornaments from my travels. But for some reason I could only find the ornaments I purchased from this year’s holidays and not the previous years! UGH!!!
Some of my favorite ornaments:
I was visiting a friend a couple of Christmases ago and they had these cutie Christmas reindeer. So of course I went out purchased them too. Had to have them!
2. Christmas Trinkets – I’ve always been a HUGE lover of Christmas trinkets. It doesn’t take a lot to make your table or shelving Holiday-ready. Strategically placing decorations in clusters gives big ‘WOW’ impact. Play around with what you have until you finally smile at your setting.
4. Christmas Wreath – A Christmas wreath isn’t just for the front door anymore! Anywhere a wall hanging can go, so can a wreath. I placed a flocked wreath right above my throw ladder. Although not pictured, I strung lights on this ladder. Which brings me to…
5. Christmas Lights – Honey, Christmas lights are the bomb! So go ahead and hang’em! We have sooo many sets of Christmas lights that I decided to make the ladder festive. But they can be hung ANYWHERE!!!
Shelving Unit – Banister – Bar Cart – Headboard – Ladder – Mantle – Cabinets
After all that Holiday decorating, it’s now time to sit back and enjoy a Holiday cocktail made with Purity Vodka. I’m all about my cocktails and I love creating them such as these recipes I shared with you. Purity Vodka is my only vodka go-to. It’s not like any other vodka. It is full-bodied, complex and loaded with character yet, smooth and sophisticated. Purity Vodka is the result of a master blender’s quest to develop and produce the world’s finest ultra premium vodka. After a decade of redefining the recipe for Purity Vodka, the multi-awarded Master Blender Thomas Kuuttanen has succeeded in his quest to redefine vodka; developing a vodka different from all others with maximum character and a smooth, full-bodied taste.
But what I love best about Purity Vodka is that it’s organic and gluten-free! Truth: I’ve always had issues with my sinuses draining BADLY after having a drink made with vodka that would last for hours. It used to take me forever to fall asleep because of whatever ingredient I am allergic to in other vodkas. And trust me, I’ve had all kinds and brands of vodka. But this one, I’ve NEVER had that issue…which is why I continue to work with this brand of vodka. Oh, and did I mention they’re a GREEN COMPANY?!?
What is better than a blanket and a nice cocktail made with Purity Vodka? Not a thing. Especially after a long day of decorating for the Holidays
And just in case you’re wondering about the cocktail I’m drinking, here’s the recipe:
4 oz of Cherry Juicy Juice – Splash of Pineapple Juice – One Shot of Purity Vodka – Ice -Splash of Ginger Ale
Mix first four ingredients, well-shaken. Pour into glass. Add last ingredient. Garnish with fresh whole cranberries and mint leaves.
Enjoy! And have a beautiful day!
