Back in December, I shared in this post that I’d had a personal, emotional, and crazy weekend and would share it with you at a later date. When Iris by Lowe’s reached out to me about their new security system, I jumped at the chance to participate because I had a story to tell and really wanted to share my experience.

But before sharing this, let me give you a little background. I’m sure you know I have a home in both Atlanta and Memphis. Before recently moving into a new home in Memphis, my brother and nephew lived there. I loved this arrangement because when I wasn’t there, I knew someone was. And when I was there, I felt comfortable not being alone at night. This home had living quarters behind the house. My brother lived here while my teen nephew stayed in the main house.

On December 3, 2016 around 4 am, I was awakened at gunpoint. It was the scariest moment of my life. I thought I was going to die on this day. I truly thought my kids would be motherless (so thankful they were at their father’s). Unfortunately, I now have a full understanding of what it means when people say that their life flashed before their eyes. Even though the robber said he would kill if we (my nephew and I) didn’t cooperate, he also said he wasn’t a killer. Blessed, we survived.

I promised myself once I moved, I would get a home security system. I also promised I would not take for granted again that just because we live in a great neighborhood, we’re completely safe. When I’m home alone overnight, that night ALWAYS and constantly replays in my mind…which makes it hard for me to get to sleep. But now thanks to Iris by Lowe’s, I am sleeping so much better. Although I will never forget this horrific experience, with the Iris by Lowe’s security system, I am able to rest my mind more and fall asleep much quicker than I had before.

I’m so sorry you had to experience something like that Candy. I leaves such a horrible mark on our souls. Glad you found something that makes things a little easier to bear. It sounds like a great kit.

There’s no better feeling than security in your own home. I experienced a home robbery in college and ever since I have always taken extra precaution to ensure everyone is safe and sound ?

That moment of a break in at your house must have been so scary. Security devices are really important these days for the safety of our homes. this looks a good one being connected with your phone. ?

Yes, that’s whats so great about it: It’s right there at your fingertips. And it’s awesome that it’s so much more than a home security system.

  11. June 5, 2017 / 1:39 pm

Glad to know your safe. Home security is more compelling these days. One might think it’s not required but it’s only after a bad experience that we realize it’s important.
