I saw a similar custom painted monogram denim jacket I really liked last Spring, but didn’t want to pay what they were asking for…especially knowing this was something I could do myself. I put that thought on the back burner. Now that Spring has arrived, I thought now would be the perfect time to start on this DIY project for those cool mornings and late evenings.
I followed this guide. But instead of printing out my letters, cutting them out, and outlining the letters with a Sharpie (too time-consuming for me), I just purchased stencils from Michael’s. This was a much easier and quicker option IMO.
I made sure to purchase a pretty inexpensive denim jacket (HERE – Under $25) in case it didn’t turn out the way I wanted…since this was my first try at this.
I love the way my jacket turned out. I have a couple of paint spots that weren’t not supposed to be there. So to make it less obvious, I’m just to add a few more paint spots to make it look like they are there on purpose. This tutorial can also be used to make the monogram straw tote (example here). Hmmm…
So what do you think of my custom painted denim jacket? I’d really love to know your thoughts!
Thank you so much for reading and sharing! And as always, have a beautiful day!
